Do you ever have an idea that you just know is fabulous and then half-way through implementing it you’re just not feelin’ the love? Well, that’s how I felt about my posts for the first half of 2010 here on EBQ. Now don’t get me wrong, each one of those posts had something interesting to say and were actually inspiring and motivating people (after all, that was the idea wasn’t it?) but they were taking soooooo long to write and I was agonizing over each and every one to the point that it just wasn’t any fun for me at all (once in a while it gets to be about me, right?). So this afternoon I made the brave choice to delete all those old posts (don’t worry… in this case delete just means sent to a sort of “pending ideas” file to reinvented later in another way) and to make a Fresh Beginning.

Yes, a Fresh Beginning is just the ticket. We all start things, struggle a little now and then and sometimes even come to a screeching halt, just like I did. We walk away, neglect the project for a little while, and begin to second guess our ability to ultimately create what we had envisioned in our mind. Let’s be honest – it takes a tiny bit of courage to go back to something and make it work. It takes a certain amount of belief in yourself, belief in what you can create, and belief that no matter where you’re stuck you can always make a Fresh Beginning! (Do you get the idea here? Don’t call it “starting over” or something else as equally defeatist. It sounds like you totally messed up and how you talk about yourself is critically important to your ability to reach your true potential! Remember the words you use to talk to yourself create your own self-image. You can’t blame your low-self esteem on others if you’re bashing yourself all day!)

So here I am, making a Fresh Beginning with my blog. Yes, it’s still going to be about living life as an Everyday Beauty Queen (EBQ), but it’s going to include more practical advice, more tidbits about living life as a pageant coach, and more personal insight into what it is about the pageant community that I find just flat out fascinating. So here I am my friends, telling you that I just didn’t love what I was creating, being open and vulnerable about my desire to create something more personally meaningful, and hopefully inspiring you to finally look that one thing you’ve been ignoring straight in the eye and to create your own Fresh Beginning!
