Vocab

Contestant – Someone who has entered a pageant competition.

Titleholder – Someone who has actually won a pageant competition.  They may have won at the local, state, national, or international level – they’re all called titleholders.

Crown Chaser – This phrase can have two meanings:  1) A contestant who is highly competitive, competing over and over again and wants to win as many crowns as possible.  2)  A contestant who competes in order to fill a void in her life.  These contestants are trying to fill something in their life through pageant competition, but they don’t realize that they’ve got it backwards.  In order to win, you’re got to be a whole person – it’s not the other way around!  In the “real world” a crown chaser is someone who is always trying to “one up” everyone else to prove that they’re the best (and they almost never are).

Wanna Be – This is someone who wishes that they were an EBQ, but doesn’t have the motivation, energy, self-discipline, or focus to pull it all together.  They tend to live vicariously through others and spend all their energy critiquing everyone else instead of focusing on getting their act together.  Everyone knows at least one Wanna Be!

NRY – This is an abbreviation I use for someone who’s just Not Ready Yet.  For a variety of reasons she just can’t step out of her comfort zone and learn the skills necessary to change the results she’s getting.  She’ll just keep doing the same things over and over again, or improve just slightly, and wonder why she’s not getting where she wants to be.  We’ve all been in this situation at one time or another and can understand how frustrating it can be!

RTW – This is my abbreviation refers to someone who is definitely Ready To Win.  She’s willing to step out of her comfort zone (even if it’s just stepping out tentatively at first on her tippy toes) to accept responsibility for her success, develop new skills, and create the life she’s always dreamed of.

Fab – Refers to something that’s done well.

Fab, fab, fab! – Refers to something that’s extremely well done and makes you happy, happy, happy!

Pageant Fab – Refers to something that is truly amazing and represents the highest level of excellence you can imagine.

Beauty Queen – Someone who has decided to use pageant competition as a way to enhance her poise, confidence, and public speaking skills.  A BQ will typically compete for 1 – 8 years before she goes on to excelling in another area of her life.

Everyday Beauty Queen – This is the ultimate achievement for anyone.  An EBQ has developed inner beauty, poise, confidence and the ability to relate to anyone at anytime in any situation.  She’s relaxed, enjoys life, and brings joy to those around her.  She is living life on her own terms and having fun doing it!
