Okay, we’ve all seen fabulously amazing contestants on TV competing to win the coveted title of Miss Whoever Beauty Queen.  We wistfully imagine ourselves in her shoes and think how great it would be to be her.  But even if she wins the pageant, the title and attention only last a year.  The reality is that no one goes on to become a professional Beauty Queen.  Have you ever seen that checkbox on a list of occupations – Beauty Queen?  No you haven’t.  That’s because really good BQs have gone on to success in other areas of their lives!

You see, the ultimate achievement for anyone is to become an Everyday Beauty Queen.  An EBQ makes being pageant fab look easy and effortless and she’s integrated important pageant skills into her everyday life.  That doesn’t mean that she’s always wearing her full “pageant glam” look or eating plain grilled chicken and steamed broccoli at every meal (boring!).  It means that she knows she’s in charge of creating the life that she wants and has accepted the responsibility of making her dreams come true.  She uses the positive attitude, self-discipline, perseverance, social skills, and focus that she used to compete to be successful in other areas of her life.  She’s learned that while goal setting is serious business, winning in life requires the ability to accept who you are, who you want to be, and to laugh at yourself occasionally!  She knows that it’s UP TO HER to create the life that SHE wants.  She is the woman you’ve always wanted to be – but she’s you, not somebody else!

Is it necessary to have competed in a pageant to become an Everyday Beauty Queen?  Absolutely not!  You just have to be someone who’s committed to being a life-long learner and interested in personal development.  You have to enjoy developing new skills whether it’s learning to speak another language fluently, bake a decadent chocolate cake (I can do that one) or developing the skills to swoosh down the slopes at Aspen like a pro.  It doesn’t have to be some massive personal makeover plan – you can learn and grow just a little every day.

Being an EBQ is about establishing a standard of excellence in your own mind and then working towards achieving it.  Notice that YOU establish the standard and YOU decide what you want to work towards.  It’s about expanding your possibilities and working towards your personal vision of… you know… whatever!  It’s taking time from your busy hectic day for it to be “all about you” for just a moment so that you CAN create the “YOU” that you so desperately want to become!

Oh, and I almost forgot… there is one final requirement… you do have to want “World Peace”!
